SUMMARY:Online Workshop: Exploring the Societal Impacts of Digital Twins
DESCRIPTION:About the event \nDigital twins and related solutions are becoming pervasive tools in many aspects of modern life\, from urban planning to healthcare to heritage and nature conservation. \nBut what implications does this have for the way society functions\, how decisions are made and how we are governed? Who should have a say in designing these tools\, and how should they be engaged? How do we reflect on the inherent biases in data\, and guard against the harms this could cause? \nTo what extent are we willing to delegate decision-making responsibility to the ‘machine’\, and where do we need to retain the ‘human in the loop’? \nJoin DTNet+ Societal Impact SIG for this online workshop to consider these questions and more\, to feed into the development of a white paper outlining the societal challenges and opportunities that Digital Twins pose\, and the research agenda that is needed to explore and address them. \nThis workshop is being organised by the DTNet+ Societal Impact SIG: Negar Ahmadpoor\, Paul Cureton and Jennifer Schooling. \nRegister now \nRegister your interest here: https://forms.office.com/e/63CMidUxYz \nMore information on the event website here. \nDTNet+ is a UK-wide inter-disciplinary research network designed to facilitate research advancements that will contribute to the next generation of intelligent\, resilient\, and trusted digital twins. It is funded by UK Research and Innovation – the UK’s national funding agency for investing in science and research.
