
FERGUS TICKELL
National Energy System Operator
Fergus is Regional Energy Strategic Plan Manager in Scotland for the National Energy System Operator (NESO), the UK’s new publicly owned energy body, responsible for managing the planning and design of electricity and gas networks across the nation.
He has more than 30 years of experience in the renewable energy sector across a range of technologies, project scales and disciplines.
He trained as an ecologist and spent his early career in land management, including the development and operation of local scale hydro-electricity projects. He subsequently worked on bioenergy and hydro project development and consultancy focussed on community projects, wind farm optimisation and green hydrogen production and use.
