About Us

TransiT is leading A UK-wide consultation to shape its transport and digital technology priorities with the aim of radically accelerating transport decarbonisation.

With the backing of the Engineering and Physical Science Council (EPSRC), leading experts from Heriot-Watt University and the University of Glasgow are exploring the potential of digital twins – sophisticated computer simulations of real-life physical objects, processes or systems – to manage the reduction of carbon emissions from all forms of transport.

Following an initial 6-month consultation and scoping phase, the longer-term aim of the TransiT hub is to create a federated digital twin that addresses the urgent need to decarbonise transport which is still the biggest single emitter of carbon in the UK.
