The launch of the TransiT research hub followed an initial six-month consultation and call for partners to explore the potential of digital twinning to decarbonise, with the support of industry, policymakers and other stakeholders.
The consultation received input from passenger and freight transport sectors across all modes – road, rail, maritime and aviation – as well as retailers, operators, policymakers, government organisations and charities.
Experts in data, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and telecommunications also took part in our consultation.
Engaging with academic, industry and government partners is critical to our research and this feedback helped us shape a detailed and innovative proposal for our new digital twin hub.
Summary
To help us understand the challenges faced by industry in decarbonising transport, TransiT undertook a stakeholder consultation from June to November 2023.
Literature Review
Alongside the consultation, we reviewed academic and grey literature on digital twins in the transport sector to better understand what has been already published.
Focus Groups
A series of themed focus groups helped us explore key challenges with a selection of specialist stakeholders from a variety of sectors and backgrounds.
