TransiT hosts freight industry leaders at prestigious stakeholder event in London

Logistics industry leaders, sustainable freight experts, energy operators and government partners joined our TransiT team in London last week for a stakeholder engagement event at the UK headquarters of infrastructure software specialist, Bentley Systems.

Our event, Derisking freight transport decarbonisation with digital twins – an introduction to TransiT, brought together around 60 guests to hear about some of our visualisation, modelling and policy work.

Presenting on the day were TransiT’s joint leads, Professor Philip Greening and Professor David Flynn, our visualisation researcher Dr Daniel Mitchell, our virtual reality and extended reality researcher Andrew Goodsell, our port, road freight and ferry modelling specialists Dr Siti Fariya, Dr Asrul Harun Ismail and Dr Tristan Smith, and our policy expert Dr Jo-Ann Pattinson.

TransiT’s sustainable shipping specialist, Dr Nishatabbas Rehmatulla, also hosted an industry panel with guests from Royal Mail, DFDS Seaways, Welch Group and the UK’s new National Energy Systems Operator (NESO).

Presenting from the Bentley Systems team were Chris Bradshaw, Chief Sustainability and Education Officer, Daniel Wikstrom, Senior Software Engineer, and Greg Demchak, Vice President of Emerging Technologies – both from the Digital Innovation Lab team at Bentley Systems.

Our guests included specialists from Connected Places Catapult, Port of Dover, Digiflec, DNV, Jacobs, JLR, Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania, Mott MacDonald, SSEN Transmission, Stantec and WSP.
