TIANYU FAN

Researcher
Tianyu Fan is currently a Research Associate at Heriot-Watt University. He recently completed his PhD in Engineering Mathematics at the University of Bristol, where his research focused on macroscopic highway traffic flow modelling. This involved using partial differential equations (PDEs) to describe how vehicle density and speed evolve on highways.
He also has an MSc in Engineering Mathematics from Bristol and a BSc in Electronic Engineering from Nankai University (南开大学). Tianyu has presented his work at international conferences such as Triennial Symposium on Transportation Analysis (TRISTAN), University Transport Study Group (UTSG) and Traffic Flow Theory and Characteristics (TFTC).

He is particularly interested in applying mathematical and computational approaches to complex transport systems, and he looks forward to collaborating with colleagues at Heriot-Watt on interdisciplinary projects.
